“The sea green
paint colors in the June magazine
were an oasis to my eyes. Each shade works perfectly with other
light neutrals. My master bath is painted in similar shades, but
honestly, I want to paint my entire house in those colors!”

lo v e d what your new contributing
editor, Elaine Griffin, did with the
bedroom in the piece called “My
Space” in the June issue.
Gina Kelley, Kansas City, MO
During an afternoon
with my
friends, the discussion turned to how
many bedroom suites each had owned.
Since all had been married for many
years, they were talking about their
fourth and fifth suite! After 54 years of
marriage I have yet to purchase my first
“bedroom suite.” The furnishings in my
home are not only unmatched and
mixed finishes but mixed generations.
Many of the pieces come “preloved.”
And so I want to say a big thank-you to
designer Elaine Griffin and BHG for
declaring the furnishings in my home
as “contemporary.”

I’m always happy
when i see
pieces in your magazine about small
spaces. My husband and I live in a
three-bedroom house that is 940
square feet. While it's just the two of
us, sometimes it’s hard making our
little house not feel cramped. Keep
up the good work, and thanks for not
forgetting us little guys!

Thanks
,
Shelley. And please check out
“3 Space-Smart, Splashy Baths” on
page 56
of this issue. It’s filled with
remodeling and decorating ideas for
smaller baths.

always interested in container
planting. I loved the “Easy Container
Gardening” article by Eric Liskey in
the May issue. (However, it should be
noted that the New Zealand flax and
the cannas can get very big and wide.)

After reading
“Trying Eyes"
(May), I had to write. I disagree
with the writer’s take on how to
react and “get used to” the teen
eye-roll. As a parent of four, and
a fifth-grade teacher, the eye-roll in
certain situations can be very
disrespectful and should be treated
as such. You can psychoanalyze it all
you want, but there are certain
behaviors that are considered rude
and disrespectful.
J. Driscoll, North Andover, MA
W h e n m y now-22-year-old
was a tween, she developed the
eye-rolling habit practically over-
night. Rather than be hurt or angry,
I egged her on. “Give me the whole
routine: eye-rolling, heavy sigh,
crossed arms. If you’re going to do it,
do it right!” She didn’t always smile,
but it always defused the situation. It
just didn’t get her anywhere, and she
soon gave it up.

Prize Tested Recipes feature in the
April issue. As the delicious winning

versatile alternative to meat, eggs, and
even dairy products. The Herbed Tofu

The All-American
Classic
Meat Loaf recipe in the March issue
(“Thoroughly Modern Meat Loaf”)
was one of the best my husband and I
have ever eaten. I baked it in a baking
dish instead of using a 9x5*3 pan. It
was so moist! The topping of parsley,
green onions, and black pepper made
it even better.

Ecstatic is how
i felt while
reading through your summer
grillingrecipes in the June 2010
issue! My favorite was the barbecued
salmon with corn relish—I might just
cook it twice for dinner this week.
Keep the summer food coming!
